FCSNB - Expression of Cooperation

June 26-28, It was a gathering of numerous ethno cultural groups under the wing umbrella of MCAF. Each country was well represented by an organized group. Traditional dances were performed. Songs were sung in the country's national language.

The Filipino CommUNITY of Fredericton(FCF) performed under the name of Filipino Cultrural Society of New Brunswick (FCSNB) with the cooperation of Filipino Association of New Brunswick (FANB). Tinikling (Bamboo dance), La Jota Moncadena, Bayanihan and Sayaw sa Banko (Bench Dance), Binasuan (The Dance of Light), Alitaptap (Firefly Dance), and Lawiswis Kawayan. Other Filipino perfomances includes Carinosa (National Dance), Bulaklakan (Flower Dance), Banga (Pots Dance), Singkil (Bamboo Dance of Nobility),  and Kapa Malong Malong.

FCSNB - Expression of Hope

Interestingly, Lawiswis Kawayan was jointly danced by the both collaboration of the two groups. Dancers from the Association were on the stage togetther with our two young ladies and the rest of the CommUNITY dancers on the front of the stage.

Singkil was also danced jointly with original dancers from the Association with the participation from the CommUNITY. Our own, Earl Cunanan, take part as the datu, Dexter as  a clapper, Gina and Cherry as dama.

Noticeably, the CommUNITY presented the Bayanihan (Filipino tradition of cooperation) with the participation from the Association. It was an unforgettable expression of cooperation and hope for both groups.
