CommUNITY Family Fun Day Appreciation
Written by Administrator

August 15, 2011

Kabayan,

On behalf of the FCNB council, let me thank you all for attending and celebrating our Annual CommUNITY Family Fun Day. This event is a celebration demonstrating the importance of family activities, celebrating the accomplishment of the CommUNITY, and providing an opportunity to meet and greet everyone.

CommUNITY Family Fun Day 2011

There were about 200 individuals attended the picnic from St. Stephen, St. George, Bayside, Kings Landing, Northampton, Pembroke, Woodstock, Grand Falls, Miramichi, Moncton, Dieppe, Riverview, Oromocto, Cambridge Narrows, New Maryland, Charters Settlement, Fredericton, Maine, and surrounding areas.

Kid's Pabitin Game

At the picnic, we enjoyed activities such as tug of war, sack races, and kid's all time favourite slip 'n slide. In addition to those activities, we introduced "Pabitin"and "Longest Line". All of these were a great success, as everyone was participated and entertained.

The BLUE TEAM was declared the overall winner amongst the teams and brought the championship trophy. The 1st runner up place was won by the YELLOW TEAM and the 2nd runner up was given to the RED TEAM.

Trophy PresentationTinikling Performances

The picnic area was decorated with Filipino ambience featuring the NIPA HUT with banderitas (colorful hanging decorations), a display tent of CommUNITY past cultural activities, and CommUNITY resources for everyone. These activities brought back memories of our native land and allowed us to share our tradition and culture to our kids and our Canadian friends.

Thanks to Neyda Long who brought greetings from Minister Keith Ashfield's office, Councilor Eric Megarity who represented the City of Fredericton and NBMC President Dexter Noel who brought greetings from the council and provided update about the upcoming Cultural Center.

Thanks to our sponsors, Saigon Asian Store, Amos Wealth Solution, Outreach Productions, Burger King Smythe Street Branch, RGM Padala and Datacare Technology Services. Thanks to our partner, Multicultural of Fredericton (MCAF) for graciously provided equipments for the event. Also, thanks to Sunlife for having an informational tent and provided raffle draw to everyone.

Lechon and volunters

Thanks to the Social & Food Committee, Fitness & Sports Committee, Socio-Cultural Committee, Outreach & Fundraising Committee and Membership & Recruitment Committee for their demonstrated involvement. Most of all, THANKS TO ALL THE VOLUNTERS who tirelessly work made this event unforgettable and successful. This is far the best Family Fun Day ever because of the number of VOLUNTERS who stayed and cleaned up the picnic site and transported equipments.

It is nice seeing you all on this event and we are looking forward having you again next year. So, mark your calendar for next year's CommUNITY Family Fun day.

Check out our website for pictures of the event. As I indicated in my greetings, it takes everyone to build the CommUNITY, so let's build our CommUNITY together!!!
